Lake Tahoe will soon have a new 5 star hotel, slated for completion in 2027. Recently, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) approved a plan revision for the Waldorf Astoria Lake Tahoe project that reduced the original density.

Located in Crystal Bay Nevada, near the California border, the transformation of the Tahoe Biltmore into a luxury resort and residential community has gone through many changes.

The project, formerly called Boulder Bay or Tahoe Biltmore came forward following a public review process. The new revision resulted in a 47% reduction in the number of units that were approved in 2011. The environmental and community benefits of the project remain.

Demolition of the Tahoe Biltmore will begin in 2023. The resort is located on a 15-acre site, and includes a mixed-use development, guestrooms and branded residences.

Restaurants and lounges include the Waldorf Astoria’s signature Peacock Alley lounge. Like it’s New York flagship, it will offer a poolside restaurant and lounge with terrace. Guests can also enjoy shopping, dining and a luxury casino with entertainment. The resort boasts a spa and fitness center, a resort pool and a dedicated pool for homeowners.

Other amenities include access to the gondola and mountain club at Northstar and a private beach. The lakeside luxury complex will include a pier and private restaurant. The resort's highlights include the lakeside beach club, the 10,000 square foot Waldorf Astoria Spa and a speak-easy cabaret.

The new plan includes hotel rooms, hotel lock-offs, luxury residences, and exclusive residences intended for full-time residency. The plan also includes the 18 previously built units at Granite Place.

TRPA Plan revisions included:

A reduction in the number of hotel units to 134 from 275.

A decrease in the number of residential units to 43 from 59, which includes 18 units constructed previously.

Deed-restricted affordable housing for local employees totaling 38 bedrooms.

Elimination of a previously approved driveway and interior road to allow for a public plaza.

The Waldorf Astoria will be managed by Hilton. Contact me today for more information on purchasing luxury residences at the Waldorf Astoria Lake Tahoe.
