Homes are Selling Quickly at Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe has re-opened with many sanitary measures to encourage safe distancing and the wearing of masks, even while hiking. But the real news is that the Lake Tahoe market seems to have been unaffected by the slowing economy. In fact, sales of homes at Lake Tahoe are stronger this year over last year.

Just in the last two weeks, we have had 50 home sales around Lake Tahoe, and in the first two weeks of June, 11 homes sold for over for 1.5 million. We are also seeing many homes selling after being listed for only a few weeks. Year over year, sales are stronger this year than last and reflect the strong buyer demand.

The shelter in place order played a large part in this growing demand as many companies in the Bay Area are encouraging permanent remote work for their employees. While normal summer activity in the market always sees an increase in listings, this listing activity will not sustain the growing buyer demand. There has probably never been a better time to buy or sell your home at Lake Tahoe.
