2024/2025 Lake Tahoe Ski Resort Information
Winter is arriving right on time at Lake Tahoe with many of the ski resorts opening prior to Thanksgiving Day! The storms over the last few weeks have brought 20 inches of snow to the mountains. The next round of storms are forecast for later next week. We should kick off the 2024/2025 ski season at Lake Tahoe with an excellent base of snow.
Best Skiing North Lake Tahoe
In North Lake Tahoe, the two premier ski areas are Northstar and Palisades Tahoe. Each offers a distinct skiing experiences, appealing to different preferences. Northstar is renowned for its family-friendly atmosphere, luxurious amenities, and well-groomed trails, catering primarily to beginners and intermediate skiers. Its laid-back village features upscale dining and cozy après-ski options, creating a relaxed and refined environment.
In contrast, Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley) is a haven for advanced and expert skiers, boasting challenging terrain, expansive bowls, and a rich Olympic history. Known for its vibrant energy and stunning alpine vistas, Palisades Tahoe attracts thrill-seekers and those who appreciate a more rugged, adventurous mountain experience. While Northstar exudes comfort and accessibility, Palisades delivers adrenaline and a sense of grandeur.
Prices for season passes at Northstar will go up on November 17th. Currently, Northstar’s Epic Pass with no restrictions is $1,047 and the more restricted Local Pass is $778. The Palisades Tahoe Ikon Pass, which includes access to other ski resorts is $1,449, and the more restricted pass with blackout dates is $1,109.
Reserved Parking Required
Last year, both Northstar and Palisades Tahoe rolled out a reserved parking program to help reduce heavy ski traffic. It was very successful and reservations will again be required on peak days each week.
Palisades Tahoe Parking Reservations
Free Parking Midweek
On Monday through Friday (non-holiday), parking is free at both Palisades and Alpine.
You can just show up on Monday through Friday. Parking will be first come, first served.
Reservations are NOT required midweek, with the exception of some holiday blackout dates.
Free Reserved Parking
On Saturdays, Sundays & Select Holidays Starting on December 7th, 2024, reservations are required.
FREE parking reservations will be available each Tuesday at 12pm and 7pm for the following weekend.
Advance Paid Parking Reservations
This is the best option for guests who need to reserve Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays WELL IN ADVANCE.
Reserve in advance paid parking is $30/day. All weekend/holiday dates for the season are available for purchase.

Northstar Parking Reservations
Castle Peak Lots
The Castle Peak Lots are Northstar's largest parking lots and are free every day of the week, with no reservations required.
Monday – Friday the Castle Peak Lots will be opened for parking only once the Village View Lots are full. If this parking location is needed, the Castle Peak Lots will be served by a continuous shuttle until 6pm.
Saturday – Sunday the Castle Peak Lots are served by a free continuously running shuttle bus service, running between the Castle Peak Lots and The Village at Northstar until 10pm.
The Castle Peak lots are the first available parking option on Northstar Drive and located at the roundabout.
Village View Lots
The Village View Lots offer convenient parking in close proximity to Northstar Village and will require reservations this winter on weekends (Saturday-Sunday) and peak periods between 7am – 12pm.
Parking is free at the Village View lots Monday – Friday/non-peak periods.
Reservations are required on weekends and peak periods between 7am – 12pm.
Reservations will be free for vehicles with 4+ occupants and $20 for vehicles with 3 or fewer occupants.
After 12pm on weekends and peak periods, all parking in this lot will be free and no reservations will be required.
